 Jill Bartels, french horn Jill Bartels, a recent graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music, plays third horn in the Akron Symphony. Originally from Nebraska, she moved to Ohio to pursue her master of music degree under the tutelage of Richard King, principal horn of the Cleveland Orchestra. She received her undergraduate degree summa cum laude from the University of Nebraska. During her tenure in Nebraska, Jill played with the Lincoln Symphony, Nebraska Chamber Orchestra and the Lincoln Municipal Band. She was a participant in the University Honors Program as well as a Regent Scholar.
Currently, Jill can be found playing with many groups including the Blossom Festival Orchestra, Mansfield Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony, Syracuse Symphony and extra horn with the Cleveland Orchestra. She is also an active chamber musician spending her summers at Marlboro Music Festival, Spoleto USA Festival, Sarasota Music Festival, and the Kent/Blossom Chamber Music Festival. |
